FINISHES AVAILABLE:
We offer an array of finishes. These are shellac, tung oil, wax, light-duty, nitrocellulose lacquer, heavy-duty catalyzed lacquer, polyurethane and paint. Most finishes applied by spraying; although certain types are wiped or brushed on. Satin, semi-gloss, high gloss and hand-rubbed finishes are available.
FINISHING NEW WOOD:
We can perform all of our services on new, unfinished wood. Buyers of unpainted furniture, cabinetmakers and carpenters in need of a complete full-service facility will appreciate this service. Also, see Finishes Available.
FIRE and WATER DAMAGE:
We can remove stains caused by water and alcohol, burn marks and smoke odor. We will also replace ruined sections with new material. It is a difficult job, but we can do it.
HAND-RUBBED FINISHES:
We can take your furniture's gloss to a higher level with additional use of fine abrasives and buffing to achieve an exquisite, mirror-like surface. Great for tabletops and high visibility areas in a formal setting. Also, see Finishes Available.
HARDWARE:
Drawer pulls and knobs, hinges, etc. We polish the hardware or replace it with reproductions suitable to the period of your furniture.
PAINTING:
We are not limited to clear finishes. Paint is generally sprayed on. There are no brush strokes left behind... all you are left with is a beautiful finish in the color of your choice.
POWDER COATING - METAL:
Ideal for metal objects. Powder coating is known to be a particularly durable “paint” process that is scratch and chip resistant. It offers a variety of colors and textures. The process is performed by heating particles of dry paint until they melt together and forming a continuous bond.
REFINISHING:
After sanding, then staining or dyeing the wood, any of several finishes is applied by spraying or wiping. We use shellac, tung oil, lacquer, polyurethane, and special catalyzed finishes to achieve the right mix of appearance and durability. Also, see Finishes Available.
REGLUING:
We accomplish a good glue job by careful disassembly, cleaning off old dried glue, repair of the structural parts of the joints, selection of the right glue and proper clamping.
REPAIRS:
Structural members will be replaced or glued. We can fix veneer that is peeling or popping from the surface, as well as other surface defects. Mechanical parts, such as drawer slides, roll tops, etc. are put back in working order.
RUSH WEAVING:
A somewhat sturdier, rustic relative to caning. Genuine rush material or the more common (and less expensive) twisted paper variety can be used.
STRIPPING:
Our method is kinder and gentler. We favor a flow-over system for stripping. By pumping methyl chloride through a hose and onto the furniture, then scrubbing with a brush, we are able to remove most finishes with no damage to glue joints or surfaces. For certain delicate jobs we may use a less caustic stripper. Dipping the furniture into a vat of harsh, damaging chemicals is just not our idea of fine restoration.
TOUCH UP:
Scratches, gouges, dents, sapwood and discolorations in the wood can be usually be removed or camouflaged with great care taken to match the surrounding surface.
UPHOLSTERY:
All styles. Fabric choices available or shop for fabric elsewhere, then have us put it on. We will work to assure that the inner structure is sound, and restring the springs if necessary.
WOOD TURNING:
Legs, arms, chair stretchers, stair railings, you name it. These can be turned using the finest hardwoods to match existing wood.

GOLD LEAFING:
This is not gold paint. It’s the real thing. It adds a whole new dimension.
